Some time in the late 1990’s, I found a used Super 8 camera (Bauer C61 XL) for about $50 at a flea market in Augusta, Georgia. Over the years, I’ve used it for a couple of travelogues and have been surprised by the quality of its German-made lens. I’ve recently purchased a top-of-the-line Bauer (A512) for considerably more money and plan to make several “city symphony” films, taking advantage of Kodak’s new film stocks and the excellent HD scanning services that are now available.
A travel sketch filmed on Kodachrome 40 Super 8 in 2005, the year this film stock was discontinued. Re-edited in 2016. Cities include Vienna, Prague, Krakow, Lvov, Bucharest, Budapest.
